Sew Little Time....

Hello lovelies!

Hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.  It was such a pretty day here in Michigan.  I just hope that the temperatures continue to climb up instead of falling back down.  My week was been pretty busy with Thing #1 & #2 out of school for spring break, spring cleaning, allergies and colds striking both girls.  Sigh.....   I had a goal and wanted to complete three dresses this week, but that goal fell short.  I still managed to get one and a half projects done.

The half is Simplicity 1276 View B
What I love about this pattern is the fit and versatility.  I really wanted to use different colors but I didn't have any extra fabric to do so.  So, I just did it in the one color.  I used a ponte de roma knit that I picked up from Joann's a while ago.  On the dress, I completed the zipper and the hem.  I didn't have the right lining, so I ran out and got the tricot yesterday.  I just need to add the lining, the sleeves and I'm done!

Next up, my completed project, McCalls 6713 View B.  I didn't have enough fabric to make the flounce, but I loved the fit and how it turned out!

I used a knit I picked up from Haberman's (I love that place!).  I'm not sure what type exactly, but it feels like a ITY jersey knit.  For my very first time working with this type of fabric, it wasn't to bad.  But, a lot of experienced sewers, do not recommend beginners to start out with knits in the beginning of their sewing journey.  If I'm jumping in, it's all the way baby!! :)   The pattern instructions were easy to follow.  I did have a moment of confusion putting the bodice together since the lining was made with the same fabric, but I got thru it without any mishaps.  I was really impressed with how it turned out.  I did a tiny hem instead of the 5/8" seam allowance because I was happy with length before I hemmed it.

Tomorrow I will post pics of my project goals for this coming week.  Hope you have a gratifying week!

xoxo
Alonda
