Hello My Lovelies!
I am so excited, nervous and scared all at the same time lol! Why? Because I am jumping, with both feet, into the world of DIY. Over the last few years I've dreamed of making my own clothes and jewelry. I have also gone through having a look in my mind, but unable to find that same look in rtw garments.
I decided to make a goal to make 60% my summer wardrobe (I've made this goal for the last 2 years) for 2015. Why did it take me two years to start? Fear. I was afraid the things I made would look like.... things I made. You know what I'm talking about. We have ALL seen that one chic who was wearing something and EVERYONE knew she made it. I didn't want to be her. I wanted the things I made look like I purchased them from any high end store. How would I get over this fear that, quite frankly, was holding me back? I started going to Joann's every month to look at fabric and it helped, but once I took a trip out to Haberman's, that fear COMPLETELY disappeared! They have a wonderful selection of beautiful fabrics. I get excited every time I'm in that store and I NEVER leave empty-handed!
As far as my style preference, I’d say my retro wardrobe crush would be Audrey Hepburn and my modern-day wardrobe crush would be Robin Wright's character, Mrs. Claire Underwood.
I made my first dress last month, YAY ME! I'm so proud of myself. Very easy pattern. Directions were simple and easy to follow. It took me about five hours to cut and sew everything.
I look forward to sharing the ups and downs of beginner sewing blues, bliss and bloopers! There will be of plenty pics to share and I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoy sharing!
XOXO
